Surinamese (female) rock band
LipsStick is a Surinamese rock band from Paramaribo, formed in 2007. Through the years, the band has known many formations. Nowadays the lineup consists of the core members: Chavelli Monsanto (vocals, drums), Loëlle Monsanto (backing vocals, guitar) and Fariel Soeleiman (keyboard).
The Story
The group was formed by sisters Chavelli and Loëlle Monsanto in 2007. They started off as an all-female rock band named "The Aphrodites". After some changes in the formation, the name of the band was changed to "LipsStick". They compose all music themselves and the vocal lines are also the result of their own creativity. LipsStick released their first single "The Aphrodites" in 2010. In 2012 the band wrote the official Pink Ribbon song “I choose to live”, for the lounge of Pink Ribbon Suriname. In December 2014 they released their third single "Another Christmas Song". On July 9th, 2019, they digitally released their first album “I Guess This Is Growing Up” on SoundCloud.
